Theme of the exhibition: Children of people
My theme:
Child Miners in Congo Pay with Their Lives for the Global North's Electric Cars
At least 200 men, women, and children recently died in a mine collapse in Rubaya, an eastern Congolese coltan mine. Triggered by heavy rains, the disaster was exacerbated by operators ignoring safety risks to prioritize profit. The site is currently controlled by the M23 rebel group, which uses intermediaries to funnel the material to global manufacturers.

Despite corporate claims of "ethical sourcing," large companies continue to profit from this structural exploitation. The quiet, emissions-free electric cars driving through wealthy nations are built on the invisible, and often fatal, labor of the global periphery.
